What prompted the initial contact with police? At approximately 7:10 a.m. on February 20, 2022, Margate Police responded to a 911 call of reported domestic violence at a house owned by Louisson Pierrot and his wife. Upon arrival the officers heard screaming coming from inside the house but were unable to enter. The officers were eventually able to contact Pierrot’s wife by cell phone and she advised them she feared for her life and was hiding in her closet. As the officers were speaking to her, Pierrot broke into the closet and took the phone from her. Fearing the woman’s life was in immediate jeopardy, the Special Response Team that had responded decided to make a forcible entry into the house.

Actions taken by subject towards police: As the SRT made its way into the woman’s bedroom they observed Pierrot choking his wife on top of their bed.

Reactions by the police: The lead officer into the bedroom shot Pierrot several times, killing him as he was choking his wife

Outcome of investigation into the fatal police incident: The incident is still under investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

What could the subject have done that day to still be alive today? Pierrot could still be alive today if he: didn’t have a violent domestic with his wife prompting a concerned relative to call 911; allowed police to enter his house when they arrived; not broken into the closet and taken his wife’s phone as she spoke with police; not been on top of his wife choking her when police entered his house.

Justified Use of Deadly Force? YES, deadly force was justified because the lead tactical officer had reasonable cause to believe Pierrot’s wife was in immediate danger of being murdered as Pierrot was choking her and could easily crush her windpipe.
