What prompted the initial contact with police? At approximately 5 a.m. on February 13, 2022, a Concord police officer “observed a white male suspect trying to steal a vehicle” from a car dealership.

Actions taken by subject towards police: Despite numerous commands to stop his illegal activity and peacefully surrender, the male refused to comply and instead fought with the officer.

Reactions by the police: The officer escalated from physical force to deadly force and fatally shot the suspect during the struggle.
