What prompted the initial contact with the killer? At around 3:28 p.m. on April 8, 2023, Cameron Police Officer Hunter Scheel and Chetek Police Officer Emily Breidenbach conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by Glen D. Perry “based on a warrant and to check” on his welfare because a 911 caller reported he was displaying “concerning behavior.”

Actions taken by subject toward police: Perry was armed and opened fire on the officers, killing both of them.

Reactions by the police: Before dying from their injuries, at least one of the officers returned fire and fatally struck Perry.

How murdered? PO Scheel was fatally shot during a traffic stop.

What could have been done differently for the officer to still be alive? Details of the shooting have not been released.

Would the officer have been justified in using deadly force before being murdered? If the officers observed Perry holding a firearm or making a furtive movement for what they believed was a firearm, then they would have been justified to use deadly force first.

Outcome for the cop-killer: Perry was justifiably shot during the gunfight and died.

Miscellaneous: Perry’s charges for domestic battery were both pleaded down to disorderly conduct. In 2020 Perry went on a rant “about how the cops are bad and how he was going to kill them.”
