What prompted the initial contact with the killer? On March 10, 2023, at around 12:35 p.m. Deptford Township PO Robert Shisler observed something suspicious about Mitchell Negron Jr. and “conducted a pedestrian stop” on him.

Actions taken by subject toward police: Negron Jr. refused to comply with PO Shisler and ran away from him. While running from the officer, Negron Jr. shot at PO Shisler, striking him in the leg.

Reactions by the police: PO Shisler returned fire, killing Negron Jr. Backup officers arrived at the scene, put a tourniquet on PO Shisler and transported him to the hospital.
