What prompted the initial contact with the killer? As part of a narcotics investigation, at around 8:30 p.m. on July 31, 2023, Ville Platte Deputy Marshal Barry Giglio assisted Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office serve a warrant at a residence.

Actions taken by subject toward police: Vonteeko Anderson was inside that residence and opened fire on the officers, fatally hitting Deputy Marshal Giglio.
