What prompted the initial contact with the killer? At around 10:30 p.m. on July 31, 2023, Trujillo Alto Municipal Police Department (TAMPD), Sergeant Pedro Torres-Santos was working security and standing in front of a bakery with two other TAMPD officers.

Actions taken by subject toward police: Unidentified perpetrators driving by in a vehicle opened fire on the officers, killing Sgt. Torres-Santos and injuring Officer Jack Bruno Andujar and Sergeant Jorge Torres Rodriguez.
